Moving Materials

Whether you’re hiring a company or doing it yourself, it’s important to be well-equipped when preparing your home for a move. From supplies, packing & boxing, to floor protection for your hardwood and carpets, every little detail needs to be addressed so you don’t make the job more difficult for yourself or the company you choose to hire.
Most companies offer various service packages to accommodate the needs of each client. They can do simple pick up & transport or a top to bottom move including wrapping, packing, loading, transporting to unloading and unpacking! Most people want to be hands-off with their move. They’ll take care of their personal precious belongings and then leave the rest for the movers. When deciding on hiring a moving company, there’s much to consider…

Big Enough Truck
This is an obvious one.
If you’re moving your entire house that’s full of furniture and big items, then you want to see your movers pull into your driveway with a 20-foot to 26-foot truck. Maybe even 2 of them! Depending on the size of your house, you’ll want the load-up to be done in one trip, ideally.
Material Must-Haves
When hiring professionals to complete your entire move from top to bottom, you’ll want to make sure they bring all the necessary supplies.
Also, you’ll want to inquire if these material costs were already included in your quote or if there are any additional fees. Below is a list of all the items you should expect your movers to bring.

Floor Protection
This can be a plastic protector for the carpets or long rubber runners that lay on hardwood floors.
These are crucial to keeping your hardwood or carpets from getting damaged or dirty. When moving big and heavy furniture pieces, you want as much protection as possible between the item and the floor. Hardwood floors are much more sensitive to damage than carpets and should be meticulously protected. Moving blankets may also help with protecting floors or even when you need to slide a big heavy item into a more favorable position to move/lift.
Furniture Wrap
This is very important because the last thing you want to see is your beautiful furniture all scratched and dinged up from the move!
Pretty much every piece of furniture should be appropriately wrapped to ensure that any contact within the truck with other items keeps the integrity of each item intact. Everything from large armoires or dressers to small side tables or glass panels/table tops – wrap it up!
Dollies and Moving Straps
Every move needs to have dollies.
This ensures the safety of the movers when moving heavy items from the home. However, some items may be shaped uniquely and are not ideal for a dolly. Furniture straps, or shoulder straps, come in handy for these kinds of items.
Boxes, Labels, and Packing Tape
When you’re getting ready to move, packing paper and tape are essential, but boxes are just as important—maybe even more so.
The size, strength, and durability really matter. It’s smart to have a variety of sizes on hand: use smaller boxes for heavy things like books and larger boxes for lighter stuff like clothes. You’ll also want to think about specialty boxes for fragile items, like a TV or dishes. And don’t forget to label everything. The last thing you want is to be digging through boxes, unsure of what’s in each one.
Tool Sets and Garbage Bags
There is a 99.99% chance that there will be items that require disassembly.
Whether bed frames, dresser mirrors, dining tables, entertainment units or workout equipment, it’s important that the moving company comes well-equipped to handle these situations. As the move progresses and things get moved from spots they’ve sat in for years, there will be items discovered that will need to go into the trash. Having trash bags ready makes it easy to pick up on the go through the house as items get moved out. It helps to also do a preliminary run of trash pick up through your house to remove any items you know for sure are trash. This will help to avoid any unwanted items being carried over to your new home.

When it’s time to move, hiring professionals is one of the best decisions you can make. Experienced movers know how to handle everything efficiently and safely, from packing to transport. They’re skilled in using the right packing materials to protect your belongings and ensure they arrive at your new place without a scratch. Moving can be stressful, but with the right movers and quality supplies, the process becomes much less daunting. Professional movers are trained to keep your items secure and make the entire move smoother from start to finish. For more tips and answers to common moving questions, visit our FAQ page.

We provide estate sale, cleanout and donation, and appraisal services.
It’s easy! It all starts with our free phone consultation where we explain the entire estate sale process: beginning with our free on-site consultation all the way through the post-sale wrap-up. From there, we will schedule a free on-site consultation.
The initial consultation is free. And we mean absolutely FREE! Both our phone and on-site consultations are FREE of charge.
We will visit your home for a free on-site consultation where we determine whether there are enough items in the residence to have a sale. If so, we then determine the marketability of the merchandise and whether you need a traditional in-house sale, online sale or a combination of both. If not, we will provide alternative solutions to liquidate the contents of the home.
